Fruitvale Elementary School

This segment of the World Wall for Peace is located on the front wall of Fruitvale Elementary School, 3200 Boston Ave, Oakland, CA . It was made possible by a generous grant from the Creative Work Fund, and was completed in 1999 under the direction of Principal Cherie Ivey, Fruitvale teacher Stuart Richardson, and WWFP Director Carolyna Marks, with the assistance of many teachers and volunteers.  The large soloist group was done by artists Xochitl and Roberto Guerrero.

The wall contains 2000 6” tiles, painted by students, teachers, community members, and volunteers.  It features a set of soloist groups, each painted by representatives of one of the language groups in the ethnically diverse community served by Fruitvale Elementary.
